Premise: Arnold Development - Costume

  1. Okay better proportions - In terms of clothing, what about the back of the character? You could play a trick there - an added joke. For example, in the case of Number 1 you could have the slogan 'Where's the beef' on the reverse. Or have 'Where's the...' on one side and 'beef' on the other. However, it might be fun to parody a famous gym shirt/brand like 'gold's gym'.

Number 13 is a nice design / colour but needs a touch more 80's about it. Black would be harder to light and I think in terms of his character I feel like he would gravitate towards brighter colours anyway. Using two colours, one for his shirt and one for his short might be an idea too - That is very 80's. In the 80's bright green and pink was actually an acceptable colour combo.

One memorable style of 80's shorts had a 'split/curved' side (see below - look for more, just google 80's mens shorts). Finally, the neckline could be lower/wider to reveal more of his muscles (he's proud of them). One weird fact about the 80's is that a lot of people wore T-shirts/Jumpers with wide necks because they stretched them to get their clothes over their big hair (yes that's true). If you look up Robert Smith or The Cure (band) you'll notice all of his jumpers are really lose and baggy because of his hair.

  2. Note: The picture is early 80's and in terms of time period you'll need to pick either one end of the 80's or the other. There was actually quite a difference between early and late 80's. Personally speaking, I think a decade doesn't really begin until a few years in (years 1980-83 in this case), anything earlier than that is a hangover from the previous decade. The Rubik's cube is a good example of that, it became an icon of the 80's but was in fact invented in the 70's. It just became more popular in the 80's.
