Perspectives: Key Definitions #8

Hyperrealism:
More real than reality itself. In film, the lines between fantasy and reality can be blurred. So real that it can be difficult and even impossible to distinguish from reality.

Simulation:
Imitation of the real. The idea that reality can be simulated. It can sometimes be indistinguishable from the actual reality. Sometimes can contain people, unable to escape from the hyperreal.
Philosophical treatise by Jean Baudrillard. Simulation of a real world situation.

Simulacra:
Also a philosophical treatise by Jean Baudrillard. A simulation of things that have had no origin at all to begin with. Fake reality, sometimes feeling more real than that of actual reality.

Fake News:
A simulacra. News that did not actually happen, but lead people to believe it is real. Hard to distinguish from reality. Has no origin. Also a simulation, where news is exaggerated and simulated.
