From Script to Screen: Final Logline, Premise and Step Outline

Premise:

An act of courage trapped in a place full of vanity and obsession. 

Logline:

A brain surgeon is harvesting children's brains to keep himself young. He lures them in using his joke shop, and tricks them into his trap below. Until a boy comes along and breaks free, destroying the brain surgeon's machine and his youth. 

Step Outline:

Scene 1 - Silhouettes of the brain surgeon, machine and child are shown. We see him removing the child's brain, pushing the child out of the way, and putting the brain onto the machine. Then he harvests the brains youth, converting himself from old to young. He throws the brain away and heads back up to the joke shop.

Scene 2 - We see children entering the joke shop but never coming out, we find out that many children are going missing.

Scene 3 - A boy enters the joke shop looking for something to scare his friends. The brains surgeon gives him some wind up teeth. Chattering along the floor, the boy runs after them, straight into the brain surgeons trap. He falls down the trap door, into the cage of children below. 

Scene 4 - The boy is trapped, but he notices the wind up teeth trapped in with him. He wonders if he could use them to knaw at a bar of the cage, so he does, and it works. The bar breaks and the children run free, up the stairs. The brain surgeon notices himself getting a bit older, she he begins to head down to the basement, but the children run past him. In anger and shock, he runs down the stairs to the basement.

Scene 5 - The boy is desperately trying to find a way to destroy the machine. He uses his shoelace and jams it into the cogs of the machine. The brain surgeon comes running in, and screams in upset. The brains surgeon has no way of now keeping himself young and begins to turn into dust. The boy watches in shock.
